A good example of the look she's citing is Duncan Wong, owner of the Shiva Shala
Yogic Arts Center in New York and personal instructor to of yoga's most famous
aficionados, Sting and Madonna. At 5 foot 7 inches and 140 pounds, Wong is notable for his
chiseled torso and life-of-the-party ability to spin a 300-pound man around on the
flat of his back. (Sting, who looks pretty good for a 49 year old, hasn't lifted weights
in ten years.)
"The stereotypical image of a good body -very rounded and bulky- is totally
ineffective," says Wong. "If you go to a real yoga school, the teachers are going to
be extremely strong and very intense. They're going to have a great look and, more
important, a great attitude. If you have a bad attitude, you 're going to look ugly no
matter what. Your body listens to your mind."
